“A genius for teaching, a comedienne’s timing, and her huge heart render even the most gnarly subjects palatable.”
I am the proud (albeit tired) caregiver to my adorable husband David Buseck. He was diagnosed in September 2019 with a slow moving form of ALS. We have a strong, long, life-affirming marriage. We laugh, cry, speak our truths (even the hard stuff) and are grateful for our evolving partnership. Since his diagnosis, we've become activists in many aspects of the ALS movement together. I'm a professional life coach, speaker and even a magician, juggler and clown. My first degree is in recreational therapy and additionally I specialize in grief coaching. If anyone was prepared to provide caregiving to their beloved, it's me! And yet, David and I both struggle to juggle our roles as patient and caregiver, lovers and partners. We work hard to remember that I too have rights, needs and limits, even while David's ever-changing needs are more apparent. Since ALS became the uninvited guest in our lives, we've learned some things that we think are worth sharing.

In the Philapines, where I live, no one I knew had gotten professional help for their grief. When my brother died unexpectedly, I just fell apart! When my American boss saw me struggling emotionally, and my productivity decline, he suggested Linda Levine's services as a grief coach. I'm grateful to report a greater ability to cope, do my job and even find the joy in my daughters again.

My husband used Linda as a coach to help him get tenure. I was inspired by how she kept him on track with the myriad of tasks and deadlines. I was impressed with how they worked collaboratively. When my second child became a highschool senior, I noticed rising anxiety about being an empty nester. I called Linda to coach me. Having a plan has made such a difference!!!
