Travel

David and Linda have a shared passion for unusual experiences. They not only explore for themselves but they enjoy educating others about travel with disability.

Seeing the world for David and Linda began when they were youngsters. Linda’s parents were international tour directors and Linda assisted them in leading groups through her teens and 20s. David caught the travel bug through family road trips and his dad’s adventuresome sabbaticals. David grew up camping and hiking to the worlds most beautiful parks, mountain ranges and waters. David also had the good fortune of traveling to diverse locations for his work, and added on days to explore these locations every chance he could. Together and or separately, Linda and David have been to 50+ countries.

A magical experience was co-teaching college students for five summers on study abroad programs to Paris, France. David’s book, Paris: City of Cultures, was the culmination of those walking and rolling tours. We speak on travel with mobility challenges and share tips to help people navigate all forms of transportation so they may continue visiting friends, family and glorious sights around the globe.

International Speakers and Educators

Linda has taught individuals and groups of learners from age two to 102. She’s faculty emerita with 30 years of teaching experience in the classroom at San Jose State University.

Linda has a B.S. in Recreational Therapy and a Masters of Education with an emphasis in Business. Professor Linda Levine is an award winning internationally acclaimed educator and facilitator. She has guided over 30,000 students and workshop participants who rave about their experiences and personal successes. Linda’s enormous enthusiasm, engaging leadership style, and make-it-fun expertise turn a learning experience into an exciting and enjoyable event.

David has a B.A. in Physics and an M.S. in Optical Sciences. He’s worked in many parts of Silicon Valley, most recently in radiation oncology. This medical experience helps him communicate with the ALS community from the position of a knowledgable pALS.

ALS Activists and NEALS Research Ambassadors

We are fighting for a cure and for support services for all in our ALS Community. David is an ALS Network Board member. With ALS Network and I AM ALS, we have spoken up in state, national and international settings for the needs of patients and caregivers living with ALS. We believe in the phrase, “nothing about us without us.” That means, if conferences are happening in the ALS space, people living with the disease and their caregivers should be at the table with feedback from lived experience.

As NEALS Research Ambassadors we join the mission to accelerate the development of new treatments through innovative research. This involves working collaboratively with medical professionals, industry leaders and educators and all stakeholders in the ALS research community.

Writing

Both Linda and David have written about the experience of a scary progressive, fatal disease moving into our lives. Linda turns most writing into speaking points. David publishes in magazines, industry websites and on his well-read travel blog.

David’s book, Paris: City of Cultures, includes eight walking and wheelchair tours. We speak on travel with mobility challenges and share tips to help people navigate all forms of transportation so they may continue visiting friends, family and glorious sights around the globe.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the purchase of this book will be donated to the ALS Network, which provides care, research and advocacy for people living with ALS.
