This collection of creative, educational, and fun workshops have been used
with great sucess in libraries around the Bay Area. Workshops are available
for a variety of ages. Another great alternative is to have a clown
show.
Linda Rainbow Levine knows how to put on an exciting, quality program. She prepares well and comes up with ingenious ways of presenting the information. Flexible and able to present a wide range of programs, Linda works well with all ages from young children to adults. What really happens on an archeological dig? Learn what the roles are of each player, and follow up with an archeological simulation (indoors at stations). Beads, buttons, and bangles are all stringable when you've got the right tools. Learn to use memory wire to create unique jewelry for men and women, girls and boys alike. You are author and illustrator, all in one. Using Klutz Blank Books, create unique, textural, and three-dimensional books that can be themed (for example: Peace, All About Me, The Ocean). Maximum: 20 people (may be expanded for an additional material fee).
The circus has a rich multicultural history. Come learn circus history and skills in an environment of laughter and fun. Every kid can run away and join this library circus. There are jobs for Ring Masters, clowns and elephants alike! Act out the roles and learn as you go.
An introduction to the delightful art forms of juggling, pantomime, and clowning. Linda Rainbow Levine began her clown training at age 8, and has now performed for audiences in the USA and beyond. Come learn to be a clown (wigs and clown shoes not required!)
It is a treat for the senses to create lovely collage art. We will make miracles from the mundane as we tear up magazines and streamers, bend wire, soak postage stamps, and shrink photographs. A true opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade: collage creation is a window into your creativity. Decorate cans, boxes, pots, frames and more. Red rover and dodgeball are outdated. Come learn many wacky, hilarious, noncompetitive, nontraditional activities for the whole family. Wear jeans and come ready to play, run, and hop outdoors. Everyone exercises and everyone wins!
Can we heal the hurts that separate us? Explore how we have been hurt and how we hurt in return. What do you do when covert and overt racism rears its ugly head? Simulation games and activities will help us to get into our own skin and others as well. We talk out the pain, and work on solutions. Who can break the cycle of isolation and cruelty? Who can make the world a better place for ALL? Every person can make a difference and that means you and me.
Polymer clay is a color wonderful clay medium that is easy to use and inspires our creativity. All students will leave with handmade projects from beads to key chains, light switch covers to creepy critters to bake at home. Maximum: 40 people (may be expanded for an additional material fee).

Make a puppet and personal shield to express who you truly are on the inside and the outside. Craft materials will be provided to help you re-create you! Discussion with puppets and shields brings this program to it's full value.
Moms: you carpool children daily to marvelously creative activities. Well, here is a night designed just for you. Linda brings all the supplies, and participants learn a skill in a safe and playful environment that's open to socializing, laughter, stories, and creativity. Everyone takes home their creation and memories. One night or a series are available. Topics can include: rubber stamp card creation, collage, mask making, chocolate molding (kitchen needed), scrapbooking, jewelry making, terracotta pot painting, and so much more. A hands-on rubber stamp workshop for all ages and genders. Make cards, hats, door signs, scrapbooks, and more with rubber stamps and old postage stamps. Workshops may be general or themed, i.e., Valentines, birthdays, Asian elegance, multicultural magic, Halloween, December (Kwanza, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year). Everyone leaves with multiple creations.
Storytelling is the memory of who and what we are, stories of history and holidays. Fiddlers and fools come to life when you learn to create the environment and become the characters. Come as a teller and an audience and participate in hilarious theater games.
The emphasis of these simulation games is on energetic participation and cooperation towards team achievement. Who can make a tower of newspaper and straw? How can your whole team cross an acid river? Is anyone fails, you all fail. If all win, you win! The goals are: To increase verbal, nonverbal, expressive and receptive communication skills and to increase collaboration and trust building among team members. Come laugh and succeed together. There is a wonderful world to explore by painting and stamping on ceramic tiles. Move the paint with tooth picks, straws, toothbrushes and wacky brushes and combs .
